Greg Gilligan
RVA757 Connects

Former business columnist and Editor for Richmond Times Dispatch 

Gregory J. Gilligan is the communications director for RVA757 Connects, a nonprofit organization made up of business and higher education leaders from the Richmond area (RVA) and Hampton Roads (757) region that is promoting the area as the I-64 Innovation Corridor megaregion. The organization believes that convening and collaborating, not competing, between nearby cities drives scale and the economic success of both localities. 

Greg worked at the Richmond Times Dispatch for 35 years, leaving in March 2022. He spent the last 11 ½ years as the paper’s Business Editor. During his time at the RTD, he learned and wrote about all of the major retailers in Richmond including Circuit City, Best Products, Heilig-Meyers.  For about 10 years, he even worked as a clerk during the holidays at various retailers to get a first-hand feel for the companies!  An award-winning reporter, Greg taught journalism classes at VCU from 2003 to 2008.
